JuniorBJJ & JuvenileBJJ
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial and a self-defense art, that has traits from traditional japanese martial arts, such as jiu jitsu and judo. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is typically fighting on ground. BJJ focuses on taking the opponent down to the ground as fast as possible and finishing the match by using a choke or one of many locks.
Juniors and juveniles get to compare their techniques, strengths and skills in BJJ in wrestling's terms. Big part of the exercises are training the techniques used on ground, such as grappling, joint locks and sweeps. Training also includes self-defense exercises.
Starting training & equipment
You can attend the introduction class wearing t shirt and shorts/sweat pants
Parent or a guardian has to attend first training if the student is underage. Our coaches would also like to inform the parents about the training and the practice.
Good manners guide development of values
Good manners and respecting others are one of the main focuses of our junior programs. Disciplined and regular training improves attention span, self confidence and patience, and they positively have an effect on learning, and it reduces the chances of being bullied or being disruptive.
We take care that during training the skills are not being misused, and we teach to only use the learned skills in real self-defense situations.
Juniors learn to defend themselves, get good exercise, get to meet new friends and learn important social skills in our courses. Improvement is quickly noticed. Correct techniques and combinations and quick decision making require seamless mind-body connection.
